Jean Bishop, 83, of Greenwood, IN, passed away peacefully with family at her side on March 13, 2013. She was born to Walter J. & Alta (Gray) Ross on February 4, 1930 in Morgan County, IN. Jean married Frank C. Bishop on July 11, 1948. Jean graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1947 & became the first editor of the Decatur Central Hawkeye Yearbook, also in 1947. She was the Assistant Food Service Director for Decatur Township Schools for 28 years, retiring in 1996. Jean was a member of West Newton United Methodist Church where she was also a Secretary for many years. She loved shopping, playing euchre & traveling. Jean is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank C. Bishop of Greenwood, IN; 2 daughters, Karen (Garry) Smith of Indianapolis, IN & Anita (Stan) Dorrell of Greenwood, IN; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Jenna)Smith & David Smith, Stephanie (Robert) West, Ryan (Katie) Dorrell, Kyle Dorrell & Ross (Megan Storck) Dorrell & 9 great grandchildren. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Walter J. & Alta (Gray) Ross & 2 sisters, Byrl Furry & Ruth Stierwalt. Family & friends may attend calling hours from 3-8 pm, Friday, March 15, 2013 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN & 9-10 am, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at West Newton United Methodist Church. Pastors Peter Bunch & Marianne Nichols will officiate the 10 am Celebration of Life Service at West Newton United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Jean will be laid to rest at Washington Park North. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
