Jay Lucas

Jay Bruce Lucas, 52, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 5, 2013. Jay was born to James R. and Beth B. (Minnich) Lucas on August 26, 1960 in Indianapolis, IN. Jay graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1979 where he was named Outstanding Male Athlete. Jay went on to graduate from Wabash College in 1984 where he played basketball and ran track. Jay worked in Loan Management for Safeway Inc. in Speedway for several years. He loved athletics and traveling. Jay has been a lifetime resident of Indianapolis, IN. Jay is survived by his parents, Jim and Beth Lucas; three sisters, Jan Lucas, Jamalyn (Bill) Miller and Joy (Vernon) Lucas-Brown; a brother, William "Buz" Brown; three nieces, Jordan (Josh) Beasley, Jizelle and Jaylan Miller and two nephews, Justin Brown and James Miller. Family and friends may attend calling hours from 4-8 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 and 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next door to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. There will be an 11 a.m. celebration of life funeral service on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Jay will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, IN.
