Janet S. Duke

Janet S. (Smiley) Duke, 64, of Mooresville, passed away Wednesday, July 14th, 2021. She was born August 22nd, 1956 in Indianapolis to her parents Eldred and Viola Ruth (Ketzendorf) Smiley. She married Ken R. Duke on April 27th, 2012. She was a resident of Mooresville for most of her life. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 9 years, Pastor Ken R. Duke of Mooresville; a step daughter, Staceya (Dale) Danick of Mooresville; a step son, Jared (Jill) Duke of Avon; five grandchildren: Amber (Braeden), Patience (Geoff), Caleb (Hannah), Ethan, and Keegan; two great grands: Samson and Annalyn; two brothers: Charles (Robin) Smiley and James (Sherri) Smiley; two sisters: Mary (Mike) Gay and Doris (Tim) Ellington; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Janet is preceded in death by both of her parents and one grandson, Elijah Duke. Janet was a 1974 graduate of Mooresville High School and attended Ball State University. She was an Administrative Assistant for a Credit Union for most of her life before retiring in 2018. Janet was a member of Souls Harbor Assembly of God, where her husband was a pastor there before retiring. She loved watching her grandkids play sports. Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 6 pm on Monday, July 19th at Souls Harbor Church, 8434 East State Road IN-267, Plainfield, IN 46168. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 pm following visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 20th at West Newton Cemetery where Janet will be laid to rest.
