James William "Jim" Baker, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and veteran, passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on February 25, 1949, in Indianapolis, to his parents William and Florence (Brooking) Baker, Jim was a lifelong resident of the city that he cherished and called home.

Jim was a proud graduate of Decatur Central High School, class of 1967. He exemplified dedication and service when he joined the United States Marine Corps, bravely serving his country during the Vietnam War. His strong work ethic carried him through his civilian life as well, where he held the position of manager at Roadway Express in Indianapolis, a role in which he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Jim's family was always at the forefront of his heart. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Lisa Woods (Jeff) of Mooresville, along with two cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy into his life. He will be deeply missed not only by his family but by all who were fortunate to know him. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry Baker.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.

As we reflect on Jim's life, we remember his unwavering spirit, his kind heart, and the memories that will forever be cherished. His legacy will live on through those who carry his love with them.
