James H. Pierson, 93, of Mooresville, passed away at home on April 27, 2005. He was born in Indianapolis September 30, 1911 to Harriett (Hunter) and Albert Pierson. Jim graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1929. He was a life-long farmer, first in Decatur Township and then in Hendricks and Morgan counties. He and his family raised Duroc hogs and showed them at county and state fairs. He was a star horse shoe pitcher and was inducted into the Indiana and National Horseshoe pitching halls of fame.
He is survived by brother Charles (Maxine) Pierson (Indianapolis), sisters Frances "Pep" Marshall (Indianapolis), and Marietta Niven (Boca Raton, FL), daughters Jo Ann Thompson (Plainfield) and Nancy (Brent) Bill (Mooresville) and sons Charles "Laddie" (Fran) Pierson (Denver, PA) and James M. "Jimmie"(Nava) Pierson (Indianapolis) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His wife Ruth Ladd Pierson and son John Pierson, brother Theodore, sister Mildred, a grandson, and a great-grandson preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society, Riley Hospital, or the Morgan County 4-H.
Visitation will be 3-8pm Friday, April 29, 2005 at Jones Family Mortuary. Funeral Services will be at 11am Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Jones Family Mortuary. He will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville, Indiana.
