James Robert Farrington

James Robert Farrington, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, August 27th, 2023. He was born February 6th, 1929 in New York, New York to his parents Eugene and Margaret (Fullerton) Farrington, where he lived for 18 years. He married Florence Kathryn (Jefferson) Farrington on December 12th, 1952.

James is survived by his wife, Florence Kathryn (Jefferson) Farrington of Indianapolis; his three children: James Robert Farrington Jr. (Patricia Clancy) of Michigan, Kathryn Elizabeth (Don) Asiala of Mooresville, and Thomas Joseph (Debra) Farrington of Mooresville; three grandchildren: Kaytlin (Aaron) Stobaugh, Samuel (Tackora) Farrington, and Carson Fuller; and five great grandchildren: Hunter Murphy, Payton Murphy, Rosalie Farrington, Madeline Stobaugh, and Eleanor Farrington. James is preceded in death by both of his parents; one daughter, Brenda Lynn Fuller; one brother, Thomas Farrington; and one sister, Eleanor Quinlin.

James attended George Washington High School in New York. He was then drafted into the United States Army in October of 1951 where he served for 20 years as an Infantry and Special Forces Officer with time spent in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Dominican Republic, and Panama. Along with multiple combat tours he also earned the Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Master Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, and Special Forces Tab. He was also one of the first U.S. Army live pickups using the Fulton Surface-To-Air Recovery System (Skyhook). He was a life member of the V.F.W. and NRA. As an aircraft enthusiast, he was knowledgeable about the military's aircraft and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. James loved his family and never passed up an opportunity to show it.

Family and friends may show their love and support during the visitation from 10am-12pm, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Grace Church 4172 East Allison Rd, Camby, IN 46113. Pastor Jim Taylor will officiate the celebration of life memorial service following visitation at 12 pm at the Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
