Iva Dean Burnett

Iva Dean (Vanhorn) Burnett, 86, of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, March 25th, 2020. She was born March 17th, 1934 in Columbia, North Carolina to her parents. Rayfield and Annie (Bateman) Vanhorn. She was a resident of Indianapolis for 20 years and a resident of Mooresville since 1969. She married Ron Burnett on November 15th, 1952. Iva is survived by her loving husband of nearly 68 years, Ron Burnett of Martinsville; five children, Randy Burnett of Mooresville, Vicki Bullock and life partner Jamie Strader of Mooresville, Ricky (Lou Ann) Burnett of Mooresville, Rusty (Angie) Burnett of Mooresville, and Valeri (Kerry) Jacobs of Mooresville; and 27 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Iva is preceded in death by both of her parents and one brother, Norman Vanhorne. Iva was a 1952 graduate of Columbia High School in North Carolina. She worked for Mooresville Consolidated Schools as a food service worker. She enjoyed her family time, working outside, especially in the garden. She was happiest when she could sit on her back porch on her swing. Due to the current unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings at this time, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
