Hugh Boggs

Hugh Boggs, 91, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 with family by his side. He was born September 17th, 1932 in Harlan, Kentucky to his parents Frelin and Maude (Baker) Boggs. He married Mary Rose (Covington) Boggs on October 10th, 1959.

Hugh is survived by his wife, Mary Rose (Covington) Boggs of Mooresville; two children: Brenda Gould of Mooresville and Donna (Mike) Perry of Monrovia; five grandchildren: Tiffany Lucas, Angelina Hardin, Derek Gould, Whitney Bolton and Casey Louie; three great grandchildren: Isaac, Ezra and Adelyn Hardin and two brothers: Curtis and Virgil Boggs.

Hugh is preceded in death by both of his parents and seven siblings.

Hugh first spotted Mary thru the window at church and offered her a ride home. At first, she refused, and later he sent a note inviting her and her sister, Joyce on a double date to the movies. She accepted and the rest is history.

Hugh joined the United States Army and was discharged in 1961. He worked as a Millwright for Witco Richardson in Indianapolis for 37 years before retiring in 1988. Hugh was a member of the Church of Christ in Plainfield.

Hugh enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing horseshoes where he enjoyed competitive tournament play. He also loved to garden his vegetables. He was a great papaw and loved spending time with them all. He was known by many to always put family first.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 2-5 pm, Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Additional visitation will be from 10-11am, Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be officiated by Larry Schneider and held at 11 am, Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Funeral Home. Hugh will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
