Howard W. Whitaker, 92 years of age passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008. He was born on October 9, 1915 in Hall, IN to the late Luther A. Whitaker and the late Gertrude D. (Norris) Whitaker. He married Kathleen J. (Price) Whitaker of Mooresville, IN on March 18, 1961. Howard has lived in Mooresville, IN for most of his life. He was a 1933 graduate of Monrovia High School and also obtained 2 years of college while in the service. He was a WWII Army TEC 5 and also a member of the New Life in Christ Church in Mooresville, IN. Howard worked in Tool and Supply for Bridgeport Brass in Indianapolis, IN for 30 years before retiring in 1980. Howard is survived by his Wife, Kathleen J. Whitaker of Mooresville, IN; 4 Children: Becky Gerlholdt of Indianapolis, IN, Donald R. Whitaker of Bedford, IN, Franklin D. Caudill of Camby, IN, and Georgia Engles of Baltimore, Maryland; Several Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews; 3 Sisters: Ruth Hedge of Indianapolis, IN, Helen Hamilton of Martinsville, IN, and Ester Mulder of Florida. Howard is also preceded in death by 1 Daughter, Norma Jean Kays; 2 Sisters, Laura May Luthmers and Mary Catherine Whitaker; and 3 Brothers: John Whitaker, Russell Whitaker, and Walter Eugene Whitaker. Calling hours for Howard will be from 4-8pm, Thursday, September 25, 2008 and also 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at Jones Family Mortuary. The funeral will be at 1:00pm, Friday, September 26, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary. Bill Rooker will be officiating the service and Howard will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
