Howard Van Winkle

Howard L. Van Winkle, 75, of Mooresville, passed away on March 13, 2017. He was born to Elmer and Erma (Templeton) Van Winkle on January 12, 1942 in Mooresville. He graduated from Eminence High School in 1960. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Gerri (Allen) Van Winkle on January 5, 1962.

Howard worked as a Job Setter for General Motors Allison Transmission Plant 3 in Indianapolis for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Mooresville VFW Post 1111. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching the Colts and NASCAR. He especially loved spending time with his family. He lived in Mooresville for most of his life.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Gerri Van Winkle of Mooresville; a loving daughter, Sharon (David) Damron of Greenwood; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers; and four sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.

Family and friends may gather to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Chris Page will officiate Howard's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Jones Family Mortuary. Howard will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
