Herman S. Thompson Jr., 83, Indianapolis, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 4, 2014. Herman was born to Stanley and Valeria (Chaudoin) Thompson on Sept 20, 1931 in Green County, KY. Herman married Bonnie (Warren) Thompson on June 9, 1956. Herman was a Chief Building Engineer for MANSUR Management in Indianapolis for 13 years, retiring in 2002. Previously, he was a Maintenance Supervisor from 1969-1989. He was a member and trustee of Gethsemane General Baptist Church in Indianapolis. He loved to work, fish and care for his lawn. He has lived in Indianapolis since 1956 and his birthplace of Green County, KY for 24 years. Herman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Thompson of Indianapolis; three children, Tanya (Ted) Saylor of Indianapolis, Don (Jennifer) Garner of Danville and Shauni (Joe) Moore of Camby; six grandchildren, Robin, Andrew, Matthew, Michaela, Mary and Isaac; six great grandchildren, Haylee, Brooklyn, Zach, Jalen, Keirah and Jace; three brothers, Harry, Marion and Michael Thompson and three sisters, Mardell Milby, Jean Burba and Rhoda Eakin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Valeria Thompson; a daughter, Tammy Garner and three brothers, Fred, Barry and Coleman Thompson. Family and friends may gather from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 and 10-11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Rev. Paul Finney will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. Herman will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
