Herbert Lowe, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, February 2nd, 2024. He was born February 25th, 1930 in Rose Hill, Virginia to his parents Edward and Mary (Howard) Lowe. On October 11th, 1976 he married the love of his life, Kathleen (Froedge) Lowe. The two loved to meet for coffee before going to work.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Kathleen Lowe of Indianapolis; four children: Kathy Mier of Camby, Tony Kays of Indianapolis, Melody Eads (Anthony) of Indianapolis, and Robert Lowe of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren: Jena Lachar, Jody Mier, Anthony Kays, Andrew Kays, Anthony Lee Eads, Joshua Eads, Nolan Eads, and Samuel Lowe; six great grandchildren: Devon Lachar, Daren Lachar, Jackson Strong, Jameson Strong, Mylah Eads, and Joshua Eads; and one sister, Ethel Brown. Herbert is preceded in death by both of his parents; four brothers: Jim, Roger, Charles, and George Lowe; and one sister, Gladys Lowe.
Herbert worked for Beverage Paper in Indianapolis for 35 years before retiring in 1992. Following retirement, he worked for Camp Camby in the kitchen. During his earlier years, Herbert joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1954 as a Corporal. Herbert was a member of SW Church of Nazarene in Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing, working with wood, gardening, was the family food taster and most of all loved eating watermelon. Herbert was known as a gentleman, kind-hearted, and hard-working man.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 7th and from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, February 8th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 8th following visitation at the funeral home. Herbert will be laid to rest at Fairfield Friends Cemetery in Camby.
