Helen M. Van De Vanter, 100, of Camby, passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2014. Helen was born to Francis P. and Delia (Griffin) Landrigan on Oct. 5, 1913 in Indianapolis. Helen graduated from St. John's Academy in 1930. Helen married Wilbur L. Van De Vanter on Dec. 11, 1931.
Helen was a Homemaker. She was a member of St. Marks Catholic Church. She was a quilter and enjoyed playing bunco with the girls. She has lived in Camby for the past 27 years and her birthplace of Indianapolis for 53 years.
Helen is survived by three children, Richard F. (Carol) Van De Vanter of Camby, B. Marie Shea of Indianapolis and Lawrence T. Van De Vanter of Spencer; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Delia Landrigan; her husband, Wilbur Van De Vanter; four children, Wilbur L., Judith A., Raymond L. and Jeffery A. Van De Vanter; a brother, Leo Landrigan; a step brother, Charles Landrigan and a step sister, Mary Burgess.
Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 and 9-10 a.m., Sept. 23, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Father Mark Gottemoeller will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. Helen will be laid to rest in Cloverdale Cemetery.
