It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Glenda Karen Burns, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on June 9, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 16, 1948, in Martinsville, to her parents Forest and Martha (Galimore) Gray, Glenda was known for her warmth, resilience, and the unwavering love she had for her family.
Glenda was a proud matriarch, balancing strength and tenderness throughout her life. She first married Danny Turpin, the father of her children, and together they shared 32 years filled with memories. Following that chapter, she found love again with Edward "Ed" Burns, with whom she spent a cherished 10 years.
Glenda grew up in Mooresville, where she attended Mooresville High School. She worked as a Dental Assistant for over a decade at Dr. Wines' office in Plainfield before dedicating herself to her family as a devoted stay-at-home mom for 35 years. Later in her career, she found a sense of pride in her role as gate security for the TSA in Indianapolis, where she served with commitment and care.
A previous longtime member of St. Susanna Church in Plainfield, Glenda had an enduring faith that shaped her life and the lives of those she loved. She embraced her passions, which included the joy of cooking and baking, a love for true crime stories, and an appreciation for the creativity showcased on HGTV. Glenda cherished her family deeply, always making their happiness her priority. Known in her later years for her softer side, she was, without a doubt, the heart of her family.
Glenda leaves behind her beloved daughter, Suzanne Mobley (Terry) of Coatesville; her cherished grandchildren, Victoria Collier (Austin), Amanda Burnell (William), Gabrielle Mobley (Logan Taylor), and Falyn Turpin; and her brother, Forest Gray. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Danny Turpin, her recent husband Edward "Ed" Burns, and her son, Brandon Turpin.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Glenda's remarkable life will be held on June 12, 2026, at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service. Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial gathering at 1:00 pm. The service will commence at 2:00 pm, providing an opportunity for all whose lives Glenda touched to come together in remembrance and love.
Glenda's profound impact on those around her will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and remembered with love and gratitude for the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
