Gladys L. Parker Russell

Gladys L. Parker Russell, 74, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully at The Gathering Together on April 2, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 24, 1943 to James Howard and Zula May (Shane) Sheets in Morgan County, Indiana. She married Gerald Russell on May 2, 1998 after losing her first husband, George M. Parker. Gladys was a 1961 graduate of Clayton High School. She lived in Hendricks County for most of her life, was a proud homemaker and a member of Hazelwood Christian Church. Gladys always put everyone else first and her love for her family was unconditional. She never wanted to miss any of her grandchildren's events. She was a master at multi-tasking and an immaculate house keeper. Gladys also enjoyed camping, playing cards and cooking for her family. Gladys is survived by her loving husband of nearly 20 years, Gerald Russell of Plainfield; four loving children, Kevin (Julie) Parker of Plainfield, Ricky (Karen) Parker of Plainfield, Gary (Robin) Parker of Plainfield and Sherri (Ryan) Stanley of North Carolina; 2 stepchildren: Gary Russell and Pamela (Evan) Ross; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edgar Sheets; and three sisters, Betty Christy, Alice Jean Wade and Lilly Cook. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George M. Parker; two brothers; and three sisters. Pastor Eric Carter will officiate Gladys's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Gladys will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery.
