Gerald Norman "Jerry" Staum, 87, of Camby, passed away Tuesday, February 4th, 2025. He was born June 26th, 1937 in Bowerville, Minnesota to his parents Norman S. Staum and Catherine E. (Davis) Dilley. He married Ruth Marie (Wright) Staum on August 10th, 1957.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Marie Staum of Camby; one daughter, Lori Thatcher of Mooresville; one son, Greg Staum of Mooresville; four grandchildren: Katherine Thompson, Stacie Bell, Bradley Staum (Anna), and Chad Thatcher; 12 great grandchildren; and two brothers, John Dilley (Betty) of Richmond, Indiana and Ronald Dilley of Massachusetts.
Jerry is preceded in death by both of his parents; two brothers: Lewis Staum and David Dilley; and step-father, James Dilley.
Jerry, a proud 1955 graduate of Coal City High School in Coal City, Indiana, dedicated 36 and a half years of his life as a Lab Technician for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis before retiring in 1993. He was an active member of the Mooresville Free Methodist Church, contributing to the worship team and serving as Youth Group Director, Old Friends Director, and Interim Pastor.
His passion for music shone brightly as he performed in a semi-professional southern gospel quartet for two decades. Jerry also shared his talent by tuning pianos for Mooresville schools and the surrounding community. Those who had the privilege of knowing Jerry understood him to be a truly kind and gentle soul. His loving and caring nature touched the hearts of everyone around him, and his humble spirit inspired all who crossed his path.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 11th and from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 12th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am following visitation on Wednesday, February 12th at the funeral home. Jerry will be laid to rest at Mooresville Cemetery in Mooresville.
