Gary Franklin Haney, 76, of Mooresville, IN passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2023. Gary was born in Sciotoville, OH on April 17, 1947 to John Elwood and Pearl Louise (Childers) Haney. He married Judy Ann (Crickmore) Haney on December 13, 1968.
Gary was a 1966 graduate of Wheelersburg High School in Wheelersburg, OH. He enjoyed racing as he raced flat track and dwarf cars. He also participated in both car and motorcycle shows. Later in life he slowed down and was passionate about riding his motorcycle. He loved to cut grass and was often seen cutting his neighbor's yards. For several years he was a Special Olympics coach and Mooresville Optimist Club member. He attended Mt. Gilead in Mooresville. Most of his friends and family would characterize him as a Free Spirit.
Gary worked for Trans World Airlines in Indianapolis for 34 years as a Ramp Serviceman before retiring. Previously, he worked for the National Hot Rod Association Safety Safari in Indianapolis for 2 years on the Fire and Safety Crew, Madison Township Fire Department in Mooresville for 10 years as a Volunteer Firefighter, and Life Star Ambulance in Mooresville for 6 years as EMT.
Gary is survived by his wife; 4 children: Kimberly Coley (Kevin) of Trafalger, Nathan Haney of Mooresville, John Haney (Megan) of Paragon and Joshua Haney (Jamie Wampner) of Mooresville; 2 brothers: Thomas and Roger Haney; 2 sisters: Debbie Allard and Linda Crist; 11 grandchildren: Jen Gibson, Kristy Gibson, Brittany Ronczka, Samantha Haney, Katlyn Gilpen, Brooklyn Haney, Isaiah Haney, Haley Haney, Thomas Haney, Connor Haney and Lucas Haney and 5 great grandchildren: Jalen McDaniel, Chloe McGuinness, Brenna Ronczka, Kira Warner and Barrett Ronczka.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-8pm, Monday, April 24, 2023 with additional visitation from 9-10am, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. The celebration of life service will be at 10am, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Funeral Home.
