Gary H. Buttz, 73, of Camby, passed away Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. He was born January 12th, 1951 in Indianapolis to his parents Harold and Marg (Schwomeyer) Buttz. He married Susie (Icenogle) Buttz on August 12th, 1978.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susie Buttz of Camby; two daughters: Angela Wilcurt (Jay) of Avon and Jennifer West of Greenwood; four grandchildren: Ethan, Gwen, Asher, and Ben; sister, Claudia Terry (Ronnie) of Mooresville; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; and his sister, Donna Kiefer.
Gary was a proud graduate of Decatur Central High School, class of 1969. He served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment and dedication until his discharge in 1975. Gary dedicated 20 years of his life as a Technician for Family Heating and Air Conditioning in Indianapolis, bringing comfort to countless families. Before that, he embraced the entrepreneurial spirit as the Owner and Operator of B & W Sonoco Service Station in Indianapolis for six transformative years and honed his skills at Dale Williams Shell Station in Decatur Township for about 15 rewarding years. A dedicated member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, Gary embraced community and faith. His passion for vintage cars and enthusiasm for firearms reflected his zest for life. He loved creating joyful memories at amusement parks and exploring the world through travel. Gary was celebrated for his humor, joyful spirit, and readiness to lend a hand, leaving a lasting, positive impression on everyone he encountered.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, December 1st and from 10 to 11 am on Monday, December 2nd at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11am following visitation on Monday, December 2nd at the funeral home. Gary will be laid to rest at Fairfield Friends Cemetery in Camby.
