Frank Charles Bishop

Frank Charles Bishop, 99, of Greenwood, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at home. He was born December 8th, 1925 in West Newton at home, to his parents Frank and Emma Mae (Yeager) Bishop.

Frank graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1944. He was active in school functions, was Class President, two years with the school paper, Senior Year Memoir, and cheerleader for two years. He attended Butler University, where he was also a cheerleader and later attended Herron Art Institute.

His working years were spent in accounting offices of Armour & Co., Indianapolis Belting, Central Supply Co., and Stewart Carey Glass. He retired from Atkomatic Valve Co. Inc. as Vice President and Treasurer after 32 years of service.

He married the love of his life, Jeanne (Ross) Bishop, in 1948 and they were married for 64 years, before her passing in 2013. He had two daughters, Anita and Karen. During their working years, Frank and Jeanne enjoyed traveling. While belonging to Club USA, now Ambassadair, they saw three continents, the Caribbean Islands, and Mexico. He enjoyed his home and tending to his lawn and landscaping. He was a life time member of West Newton United Methodist Church, serving various committees, Sunday School Superintendent, and choir member, He was elected to (3) 4 year terms of MSD, Decatur Township school board.

Frank is survived by his loving daughters: Karen Smith (Garry) and Anita Dorrell (Stan); six grandchildren Matthew Smith (Jenna), David Smith (Jessica), Stephanie West (Robert), Ryan Dorrell (Katie), Kyle Dorrell (Abby Hudson), and Ross Dorrell (Megan); 15 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank is preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Jeanne; and his two sisters: Clara Dalton and Josephine Samuels.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 16th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville and from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, April 17th at West Newton United Methodist Church, 6843 Mendenhall Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Pastor Anne Gatts will officiate a celebration of life service at 11 am following visitation at the church on Thursday, April 17th. Frank will be entombed next to his wife, Jeanne at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.
