Elsie Hornaday

Elsie (Smith) Hornaday, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, November 27th, 2023. She was born October 25th, 1935 in Pineville, Kentucky to her parents Thurlow and Cleadie (Hubbard) Smith. Elsie married the late Chester Hornaday on December 18th, 1954. She was a resident of Mooresville and Brooklyn for most of her life.

Elsie is survived by her three sons: Danny Hornaday of Cutler, Kenneth Hornaday of Indianapolis, and Randy Hornaday of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Jay Smith of Martinsville; and one sister, Carol Scott of Florida.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Chester Hornaday; and one daughter, Robin Crisswell.

Elsie served at Gray Brothers Cafeteria for 15 years. She was also a Line Leader at Automotive Armature in Mooresville for 15 years. Elsie enjoyed traveling, spending time in her flower garden, and spending time with her family. She was known to be a Christian lady.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, November 30th and Friday, December 1st at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 1st following visitation at the funeral home. Elsie will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
