Dwayne E. Hurt

Dwayne E. Hurt, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on February 17, 2023. Dwayne was born in Indianapolis on July 31, 1961 to his parents, Wilbur E. and Josephine M. (Torres) Hurt. He married Debra S. "Debbie" (Smith) Hurt on June 14, 1980.

Dwayne was a 1979 graduate of Gateway Christian Academy in Greenfield where he was a very talented basketball player. Dwayne went on to become COO of Bacompt Systems Inc in Carmel for over 20 years before retiring in 2021. He enjoyed playing golf, listening to live music, especially Rolling Stones and loved traveling with his family and friends. His favorite phrase was LYG (Love You Goodnight).

Dwayne is survived by his two children: daughter, Alicia Hurt of New Palestine and son, Josh (Mimi) Hurt of Camby; three grandchildren: Brayden and Lilith Szak and Adrian Wathen.

Dwayne is preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 11-1pm on Tuesday, February 21st at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. The celebration of life service will be at 1pm following the visitation on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Dwayne will be laid to rest next to his wife, Debbie at West Newton Cemetery.
