Douglas McArthur Early, 76, of Mooresville passed away Thursday, May 13th, 2021. He was born December 9th, 1944 in Benham, Kentucky to his late parents, James Coleman and Lila (Emery) Early where he lived for 17 years. He lived out his later years in Tennessee on Norris Lake and most recently lived in Mooresville. Doug is survived by one daughter, Penny Early Dye of Indianapolis; two brothers: Emerson Troy Early of Mooresville and Norman Early; three grandsons: Matthew Jones, Levi Dye, and Jacob Dye; one great grandson, Brayden Jones; and two sisters: Reva Harper and Wanda Early. Doug is preceded in death by both of his parents; seven brothers: Wilburn, JC, GB, David, Lee, Larry, and Jackie; and one sister, Sondra Bass. Doug served his country honorably and was a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He worked for General Motors at the truck and bus plant for 10 years. Doug was also a construction worker for many years. He dearly loved Tennessee, all things outdoors, and fishing on Norris Lake. He also loved watching Westerns to pass the time. Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-8 pm on Monday, May 17th at Coffey Funeral Home, 937 Broad St., New Tazewell, TN 37825. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 18th at the funeral home. Doug will be laid to rest at Fairview Memorial Cemetery in New Tazewell, Tennessee.
