Doris June Shouse

Doris June (Hays) Shouse, 91, of Camby, was born February 9th, 1933 in Worthington, Indiana. She went to be with the Lord on August 29th, 2024. She married the late Lyle L. Shouse on June 17th. 1956.

Her parents were Theodore Franklin Hays and Mildred (Newsom) Hays. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Beasley (Ron) of Camby; grandsons: Zachary and Samuel Beasley; many nieces and nephews; and sister in law, Sharon Martin.

Doris is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Lyle L. Shouse; and her sister, Ruby Hale.

Doris earned her Bachelor's and Master's in Elementary Education from Indiana University. She taught at Mooresville and West Newton schools until her retirement from MSD of Decatur Township in 1990. After retiring she worked at the Marion County Library Decatur Branch for 7 years. She was a member of Camby Community Church since 1957, where she was a Sunday school teacher and church historian. Doris loved to read and play cards and games with her friends.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 3rd and from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, September 4th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Pastor Brad Long will officiate a celebration of life service at 11 am following visitation on Wednesday, September 4th at the funeral home. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lyle at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
