Dewey R. Shoemake, 83, of Indianapolis passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005. He was born May 1, 1922 to the late Harry Shoemake and to the late Clara (French) Shoemake. He was married to the late Bessie (Lawrence) Shoemake. He was a truck driver for 30 years and retired in 1987 from Dorcey Paving in Indianapolis. He was also a member of the American Legion Wayne Post (VFW Post 88) in Indianapolis.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia "Sue" Lewis of Arizona, his brother, Ralph Shoemake of Brooklyn; 4 step children: Brenda Cook of Indianapolis, Nancy Slayman of Indianapolis, Kenneth Breedlove of Spencer, Richard Lawrence of Bedford; and several step Grandchildren and Step Great Grandchildren.
There will be a grave side service at 1pm, Monday, December 5, 2005. Charles Kyle will be officiating the service. Dewey will be laid to rest at Rush Branch Cemetery.
