Dennis Newland

Dennis F. Newland, 76, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born to Lawrence and Leota (Doan) Newland on November 16, 1942 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Washington High School and served honorably in the United States Air Force. He married Connie J. (Collett) Newland on April 8, 1961.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Newland of Martinsville; two loving children, Dayna (Patrick) Cade of Brownsburg and Denise (Dean) Retz of Greens Fork; a grandson, Corbin Retz of Greens Fork; two granddaughters, Livia Cade of Brownsburg and Josie Retz of Greens Fork; three brothers, Marvin, Myron and Tony Newland; and a sister, Darlene Brunner. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill and Scott Newland.

Dennis was a Building Manager for Safeco Insurance in Indianapolis for 36 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Decatur Township Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, being outside and spending time with his family. He lived in Martinsville since 2002, Camby for 36 years and his birthplace of Indianapolis for 20 years.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 3rd and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, January 4th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Mike Willis will officiate Dennis's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4th at Jones Family Mortuary. Dennis will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery.
