David Wayne Spall, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 53. Born on July 28, 1972, in Bloomington, to his parents Nathan Owen and Barbara Jean (McGill) Mullinax. He married Lauralee Jean (Robertson) Spall on May 23, 1992.
David grew up in a close-knit family and was a proud graduate of Decatur Central High School, Class of 1991. David will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and his hard work as a driver for Estes Express in Indianapolis, where he exemplified commitment and integrity for over a decade.
Throughout his life, David found joy in the simple pleasures. He spent countless hours watching sports, with a special admiration for his favorite team, the Indianapolis Colts. Friends and family will fondly recall him as a man who seamlessly blended his strong work ethic with a love for yard work and tinkering in the garage, reflecting his hands-on approach to life.
David's faith journey began in childhood at Hope Baptist Church, where he learned the values of compassion and community. He carried these values into his adult life, nurturing a warm and loving home for his wife, Laurie, and their two children, Brittany Jean Robertson (Darrell Brooks) and David Cameron Spall (Amanda Marie). His proudest achievements include the five wonderful grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life: Ellie Mae Jean, Camden David Mason, Kyson Lee Owen, Korbyn Gregory Wayne, and Kambrie Jo. His legacy of love will continue through them.
David leaves behind his cherished wife, Laurie, his children and grandchildren, his brothers Mike Spall and James Spall (Karen), his furry companion Shelby Sue, and a multitude of friends who were touched by his kindness. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his nephew Baby Jimmy, and his sister-in-law Julie Spall.
In honoring his memory, visitation will be held on March 2, 2026 at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Family and friends are invited from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton at 2:00 PM, where David will be laid to rest.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, for his spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
