Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Lawrence "Dave" Frazer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on July 12, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 20, 1940, in Indianapolis, to his parents Lorraine John Darius Frazer and Dorothy Mae (Grinstead) Corder, Dave spent his life dedicated to his family, his work, and his community. He married Rita Irene (Stigall) Frazer on August 19, 1962 and the two spent nearly 64 beautiful years together.

Dave was a proud graduate of West Lafayette High School in 1958, and he later attended Purdue University, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him. He devoted 29 years of his career to General Motors Truck and Bus, where he served as a supervisor of the Industrial Engineering Department, before retiring in 1992. In retirement, he continued to share his warmth and friendliness by working security at Lucas Oil Stadium and as safety patrol at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, embodying his nickname, Mr. Indianapolis.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dave was a man of many passions. He was a devoted gardener, a talented cook, and a spirited traveler who relished adventures in his Corvette and on Holland America cruises to far-off places such as Australia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean Islands. He traveled to every state in the U.S. except North Dakota, always seeking new experiences. Known for his impeccable yard and his adventurous spirit, Dave was a man who never met a stranger. His sense of humor, exceeding generosity, and fierce dedication to his family created deep bonds with those lucky enough to know him. He cherished playing euchre and especially treasured the time spent with his family, where he always brought laughter and love. He was firmly committed to his faith and a strong follower of Christ, where his dedication to the Lord led him to go on a short-term mission trip to Costa Rica.

Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Irene Frazer; his daughter Lori Croasdell and her husband John of Scottsburg; daughter Lené Sherrow and her husband Michael of Sellersburg; and daughter Lisa Frazer of Plainfield. He leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and seven beloved great-grandchildren. Dave is also survived by his sister, Sherryl Doerr and her husband Ronald of Hobart, Indiana, his sister-in-law, Sandy Frazer of Westfield, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, including his brother Duane John Frazer and twin brother, Donald Frazer, and sister Sandra Frazer.

Family and friends are invited to honor Dave's remarkable life at his memorial service, which will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Prior to the memorial, there will be opportunities for a public visitation from 1:30 to 3:00 PM, ensuring that all who wish to pay their respects may do so.
