David Christie

David Gerald Christie, 74, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born to William John and Elizabeth (Maxwell) Christie on December 24, 1942 in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Kelly High School 1961 and attended Wilson Jr. College for two years, both in Chicago, IL. He was an Army Veteran, serving honorably during the Vietnam War.

David worked as a Handler for FedEx in Indianapolis for 7 years. He attended Southwest Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and all of his family. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Indianapolis Colts. He lived in Mooresville for the past 19 years, Indianapolis for 16 years and his birthplace of Chicago, IL for 35 years.

David is survived by three loving children, Danielle (Chuck) Oliver of Mooresville, Joshua (Catheryn) Christie of Danville and Joel (Jocelyn) Christie of GA; ten grandchildren, Collin, Jordan, Caleb, Grace, Hope, Joy, Geneviève , Nya, Caeva and Eloïse ; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Gabriel; and a sister, Joyce Smith of IL. David is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Christie.

Family and friends may gather for calling hours from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Keith Grove will officiate David's celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home. David will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
