Darlena Kay (Taylor) Howard, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, December 14th, 2021. She was born April 19th, 1951 in Martinsville, to her parents, Doyle "Nick" and Florence M. (Lewis) Taylor. Although she was a resident of Indianapolis for most of her life she was a previous resident of Beech Grove for 15 years.
Kay is survived by her two children: Angela Morgan of Westfield and Aaron (Siobhan) Howard of Indianapolis; two grandchildren: Scarlett and Logan Howard; one brother, Dennis (Linda) Taylor of Venice, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Kay is preceded in death by both of her parents; her son, Ryan Douglas Howard; and one brother, David Taylor.
Kay was a 1969 graduate of Monrovia High School. She later on attended Indiana State University. Kay was an Insurance Underwriter for 40 years working for various insurance companies, including Aetna and Travelers. In 2013 she retired at the age of 62. After her retirement, Kay loved watching her grandkids, she enjoyed spending time with them. Kay loved reading, working puzzles, playing games and especially enjoyed listening to music. Kay was a previous member of Monrovia United Methodist Church.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, December 19th and from 9 to 10 am on Monday, December 20th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 20th following visitation at the funeral home. Kay will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant @ Hall Cemetery in Hall, Indiana.
