Daniel E. "Danny" Mccoun Jr.

November 18, 1940 — November 12, 2024

Dan "Danny Mack" McCoun chose eternal life on Tuesday November 12, 2024. He was just shy of his 84th birthday, having been born on November 18, 1940 in Indianapolis to his parents Daniel and Margie (Lilly) McCoun. He married the love of his life, Betty Ison Garland McCoun on December 1, 1989, who predeceased him just two months ago.

Danny graduated from DeCatur Central High School in 1959, and went on to attend Indiana University where he performed in the IU Marching Band. He carried on his passion for music becoming the leader of The Basin Street 5, and later entertained locally and around the Midwest as Danny Mack. He had great experiences flying his private plane and boating with his family. Dan eventually switched to a real estate career, embracing technology to become Director of IT for the company now known as Berkshire Hathaway Indiana Realty.

Danny was a kind, gentle, caring and charismatic man. He had an ability to make people smile and told the greatest stories. Danny's heart was filled with love for his family. His devotion to his wife, Betty, was unwavering, and those who knew him cherished his loyalty and friendship.

Danny is survived by his daughter, Dana Whatley (Brad) of Hartford City, IN; his son, David McCoun (Susie) of Hartford City, IN.; two Step-daughters: Erin Jahanshahi (Ted) of Fishers, IN and Lisa Garland Davis of Batavia, OH; 9 grandchildren: Abigail Smith, Brandon Smith, Josh McCoun, Zach Adams, Courtney Jahanshahi, Tyler Jahanshahi, Caroline Jahanshahi, Madison Davis, and Sydney Davis; several great grandchildren; brother, Mike McCoun (Cindy) of Estero, FL; and sister, Brooke Kottkamp (Paul) of Indianapolis.

We are confident he has found peace in heaven through his testimony of Jesus Christ as his Savior. We are forever grateful for the loving care he received from Dr. Tom and the nurses at Community Hospital Hospice, and his devoted caregivers at Hamilton Trace Senior Living.

Danny will be laid to rest during a private family graveside service in West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, IN. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.
