Cody Wray Capps

Cody Wray Capps, 37, of Hendersonville, Tennessee since 2011 and previously of Indianapolis, IN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 28th, 2023. He was born September 16th, 1986 in Indianapolis to his parents Andy and Cindi (Patterson) Capps. He married the love of his life, Daphne Lynn (Able) Capps on January 1st, 2010.

Cody is survived by his wife of 13 years; four sons: Ezekiel Capps, Forrest Capps, Gideon Capps, and Hawkins Capps; both of his parents; two brothers: Shawn Capps (Elaine) of Westfield and Drew Capps (Holly) of Avon; maternal grandfather, Edsel Patterson of Mooresville; and paternal grandmother, Lois Capps of Indianapolis.

Cody is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Helen Patterson and paternal grandfather, Joe Capps.

Cody was a 2005 graduate of Decatur Central High School and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education in 2009 from the University of St. Francis in Indiana. He earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Bethel University in 2013 and added a Behavior Analyst Graduate Certificate from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Cody began teaching Special Education for Robertson County Schools in 2010 and later served as an Assistant Principal and Behavior Coordinator while also driving a bus for school transportation. During his time there, he was instrumental in the success of many students in Robertson County.

Cody was a dedicated husband, father, a long time member, servant leader and Deacon at Long Hollow Church in Tennessee. When Cody wasn't dedicating his time to his family and the Lord, he enjoyed hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing, weightlifting, football and even took pride on working on his home, and coaching his sons in wresting, football, and soccer. Cody was known by many to be a great leader, role model, very inspirational and a tremendous motivator.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 4th and from 10 to 11 am on Friday, January 5th at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, 4161 East Allison Road, Mooresville, Indiana 46158, next to Jones Family Mortuary. A celebration of life service will be held following visitation at 11 am on Friday, January 5th at the Banquet Center. Cody will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, IN. Services are entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville.

An additional celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Hendersonville, TN.
