Clarice C. (Carver) Oldham, 90, of Plainfield, passed away Tuesday, December 31st, 2024. She was born January 11th, 1934 in Tennyson, Indiana to her parents Charles Yateman and Bertha (Cash) Carver. She married the late Joseph C. Oldham Jr. on May 24th, 1951.
Clarice is survived by her four children: Diane Suntum (Ralph), Ronald Oldham (Phyllis), Donna Black (Gary), and Larry Oldham (Terry); nine grandchildren: Sara, Scott, Chris, Jeff, Brad, Jennie, Jill, Josh, and Laura; and several great grandchildren. Clarice is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Joseph C. Oldham Jr.; one grandson, Ronald Joseph Oldham Jr.; one granddaughter, Amy Allen; five brothers; and four sisters.
Clarice was a proud 1951 graduate of Chrisney High School in Chrisney, Indiana. She was a wonderful homemaker but also loved her job as a cafeteria cook at West Newton Elementary School. In her free time, you could find her at the Hallmark Gift Shop in Arcadia, Florida, where she worked with a smile. Clarice also served as a church librarian, sharing her love for books with others.
At Gasburg Baptist Church, she was an active member, enjoying the camaraderie of the Ladies Bible Study group. Reading was one of her greatest passions, especially when it came to Christian-themed books. Clarice loved spending time on the water, whether it was boating or kayaking on the Ohio River—it brought her so much joy!
Her family meant the world to her, and she was always cheering on her husband in his interests. She was known for her beautiful collection of lighthouse replicas that reflected her love of the water!
Family and friends may show their love and support from 12pm to 1pm on Friday, January 3rd at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1pm following visitation at the funeral home. A separate graveside service will be held where Clarice will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood on Friday, January 10th at 230pm.
