Born on November 21, 1936, in Vincennes, to his parents Clarence Henry and Dorothea (Simpson) Thomas Sr., Clarence dedicated much of his life to serving others, both through his extensive medical career and his profound commitment to family and community. He married Mary Ann Julia (Lefelhocz) Thomas on February 6, 1965 and the two spent 61 beautiful years together.
Clarence graduated from St. Meinrad's High School before pursuing higher education at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his Ph.D. His thirst for knowledge led him to a fellowship and research position at Harvard University. For over 40 years, he owned and operated his own medical practice, office of Dr. Clarence Thomas, where he was known for his compassionate care and dedication to his patients. Before fully embracing his medical career, Clarence shared his expertise as a college professor of physics at the University of Cincinnati for six years, inspiring countless students with his intellect and passion for learning.
In addition to his professional achievements, Doc was a deeply caring individual, raised in the Catholic faith. He will be remembered fondly for his intellectual curiosity, generous spirit, and kindness.
