Charles Wayne Love, born on December 26, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by family. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who made a lasting impact on the lives he touched.
Charles, affectionately known to his family and friends as "Charlie," devoted his professional life to the field of banking, retiring as a Vice President at GE Finance. His keen mind and unwavering dedication shaped not only his career but also the futures of many he mentored along the way. A proud holder of a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University, Charles exemplified the virtues of hard work and integrity throughout his career.
Outside of work, Charles lived a life rich with passions and interests. He was an avid supporter of Indiana University sporting events, where he found joy in cheering for his teams and connecting with fellow fans and family. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren-Avery, Bailey, Charley, and Charles Love III. Supporting them at their events and sports brought him immense happiness, serving as the delightful center of his world.
Charles was a devout member of his community, dedicating his time and talents to Erlanger Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer. He found purpose and fulfillment in his church involvement, giving back and building bonds with those he served alongside. His commitment extended beyond the church as he also actively participated in his high school alumni organization, nurturing lasting connections and memories with old friends.
He was the loving husband of Gaynell Love, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and adventures. Charles is survived by his son, Charles Love II; daughter-in-law, Anna Love; brothers, Michael Love (Sondra) and John Love (Denise); sister, Elena Dix; sister-in-law Jana Womack (Frank); his cherished grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest treasure, and he took immense pride in each one of their successes and joys.
Charles Wayne Love leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and community spirit. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever be a source of inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra Love and Mary Love.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-8 pm, Monday, September 7th, 2026 with additional time from 11 am-12 pm, Tuesday, September 8th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service, 4165 East Allison Rd. Mooresville, IN 46158. Pastor Devin Kroner will officiate the celebration of life service at 12 pm, Tuesday, September 8th at the Funeral Home. Charles will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant @ Greenwood Cemetery.
An additional Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6pm, Thursday, September 17th at Erlanger Methodist Church, 31 Commonwealth Ave, Erlanger, KY 41018.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Erlanger Methodist Church, 31 Commonwealth Ave, Erlanger, KY 41018.
