Charles W. Knowlton, 93, of Mooresville, IN, died on March 30, 2011. He was born to Leander and Anna (Flannigen) Knowlton on February 22, 1918 in Clarington, OH. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his service at the Battle of the Bulge. He married Ella M. (Saunders) Knowlton on March 17, 1945.
Before retiring in 1981, he was a Supervisor for Commercial Motor Freight in Indianapolis, IN for 38 years. He is a member of New Life Baptist Church in Brooklyn, IN. He is also a life-time member of Mooresville VFW Post #1111. He loved gardening and fixing cars. He has lived in Mooresville, IN for the past 52 years and his birthplace of Clarington, OH for 26 years.
He is survived by 5 children, Barbara Heath of Mooresville, IN, Charles M. "Buzz" Knowlton of Mooresville, IN, Sharon Tipmore of Indianapolis, IN, Danny Knowlton of Martinsville, IN, Vickie Gipson of Danville, IN; 7 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Leander & Anna (Flannigen) Knowlton, Wife, Ella M. (Saunders) Knowlton, 2 brothers, Byno & Paul Knowlton and 2 sisters, Edna Henthorn and Hilda Hartline.
Calling hours will be from 4-7pm, Friday, April 1, 2011 at Jones Family Mortuary. Rev. Mark Wooley will officiate the 10am funeral on Saturday, April 2, 2011. He will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery.
