Charles Edgar "Ed" Hoffman, of Indianapolis died December 15, 2004. He was born August 27, 1912 to the late William Hoffman and Artensia (Munday) Hoffman. Charles was a 1930 Valley Mills High School graduate and a 1949 Butler University graduate. He married Lucille M. Mattox December 20, 1942. He served his country during WWII as an Army Air Force Major. He was a Birth Rite Member of Valley Mills Friends Meeting, and a member of the Mondale Sheep Breeders Association. His WWII memories were recently documented in the Veteran's History Project with the Library in Congress. Before retiring in 1978, he was Quality Control Manager for Uniroyal in Indianapolis, where he worked for 40 years. He also raised sheep and several varieties of peonies for many years.
He was preceded in death by Spouse: Lucille M. (Mattox) Hoffman; 4 Sisters: Helen Hoffman MacNabb , Jean and Martha Hoffman, Avanelle Dixon; 1 Brother: Robert Hoffman; He is survived by 3 Daughters: Susie Havens of Indianapolis; Dubbie Buckler-Melton of Indianapolis; Vickie Ferkins of Indianapolis; 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-6pm Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Jones Family Mortuary. Funeral will be at 11am Monday, December 20, 2004 and will be officiated by Buck Bunner. He will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Valley Mills Friends Meeting.
