Catherine S. Mendenhall, 94 of Avon, IN passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008. She was born January 13, 1914 in Franklin, IN to the late Clinton and Forda Alice (McClain) Stanton. Catherine married the late Milo I. Mendenhall in November of 1958 who passed away May 23, 1994. She was married to her previous spouse, Albert Louis Wright who passed away February 26, 1947.
She lived in Valley Mills area for most of her life and also in Franklin for 26 years. Catherine was a 1932 graduate of Hopewell High School and a 1934 graduate of Indiana Central Business College in Indianapolis. She was active at West Newton United Methodist Church and previously, a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Catherine was an Assistant Director of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles from 1961-1984 before retiring in 1984. Previously, she worked for Wilson Milk Co. in Indianapolis for several years.
Catherine is survived by 1 Son, Eric (Madonna) Wright; 1 Granddaughter, Allyson Wright of Chicago; 5 Step Grandchildren and several great and great, great grandchildren; and also 1 Sister in Law, Lorraine Milner of Florida. She is also preceded in death by Gene Mendenhall.
Calling hours for Catherine will be from 3-8pm, Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The Funeral will be at 1pm, Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary with Mike Brockway to officiate. Catherine will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery.
