With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Boyd A. Rothenberger, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on February 7, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on November 22, 1938, in Mulberry, Indiana, Boyd lived a life filled with love and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure to know him. He was previously married to Charlene Rothenberger and they spent 50 years together before her passing. He was married to Peggy M. (Blankenship) Rothenberger on August 14th, 2013.
Boyd dedicated 30 years of his life as a System Analyst for Reynolds Aluminum Company, contributing his keen intellect and unwavering work ethic to the manufacturing industry. In addition to his professional achievements, Boyd was a beloved member of the Church of Christ in Decatur for a decade, where he found camaraderie and fellowship among his church family.
As a man of many passions, Boyd delighted in woodworking and fishing, often seen crafting beautiful projects or enjoying the peacefulness of a day spent by the water. He was known for his gentle spirit and loving nature, always ready to lend an ear or offer support to those in need. Boyd's warmth and kindness will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Boyd is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Rothenberger; his two children, Joe Rothenberger (Debbie) and Greg Rothenberger; his stepdaughter, Regena Rees; and his two cherished grandchildren, Jason Rothenberger and Kera Rothenberger. He leaves behind his sister, Gayle Delph, his brother, David Rothenberger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him for his gentle wisdom and love.
Boyd is preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene Rothenberger, and both of his parents.
