Barbara Hendren

Barbara J. Hendren, 71 of Columbus, IN passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007. She was born May 11, 1936 in Lebanon, IN to the late Arrel Holmes and the late Edith E. (Rice) Holmes. She married Harold Hendren in 1956 and they later divorced and preceded her in death. Barbara has lived in Columbus for the last 10 years, Lebanon for 44 years, Crawfordsville area for 5 years, and in Iowa for a short time. She was a member of the St. Josephs Catholic Church in Lebanon, IN. She was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society through St. Josephs Catholic Church and she was President of the Humane Society in Lebanon, IN for 4 years. Barbara is survived by her Daughter, Linda (Ric) Voils of Camby, IN; Son, Brian (Frema) Hendren of Mooresville, IN; 3 Step Grandchildren and 2 Step Great Grandchildren; 1 Grand-dog; 3 Brothers: James, Harold, and Robert Holmes. She is also survived by her Best Friend of over 60 years, Carol Sowers, with whom she shared a home with in Columbus, IN. Calling hours for Barbara will be from 5-7pm, Thursday, August 23, 2007 with the funeral beginning at 10:00am, Friday, August 24, 2007 both at Jones Family Mortuary. Barbara will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local animal shelters, Wheeler Mission for the Homeless, or Gleaners Food Bank.
