Alice Faye Kellems, 74 of Indianapolis, IN passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007. She was born June 4, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Arvil Seipel and the late Nellie C. (Sahn) Seipel. She married William R. Kellems in 1952. Alice was a lifetime resident of Decatur Township. She was a 1951 Decatur Central High School Graduate and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was a Life time Member and Past Worthy Matron of the West Newton Order of the Eastern Star, Past Member of the Business Womens Association and Recipient of Sagam of Wabash Award. Previously, she worded at Indiana Bell. Alice is survived by 1 Nephew, Don Huffman of Indianapolis, IN; 3 Nieces: Linda Menendez of Georgia, Vicki and Cindy Seipel of Florida; Several Great Nieces and Nephews and a Sister in law, Elizabeth Seipel Abrahms. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Indiana State Trooper, William R. Kellems, killed in the line of duty on September 30, 1957. She received a Secretarial position and became a 43 year Head Personel and Training Secretary for the Indiana State Police and dedicated her life to the department, fulfilling her husband's mission. She retired in 2000. She was also preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Jay and Earl Seipel, and 1 Sister, Wanda Starnes, and Niece, Marilyn J. Israel. Calling hours for Alice will be from 4-8pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2007 and the funeral will be at 1:00pm, Wednesday, August 22, 2007 both at Jones Family Mortuary. John Dunaway will be officiating the service. Alice will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Indiana State Police Widows Fund.
