Obituary for William L. Taylor Jr.

William L. "Bill" Taylor Jr., 88, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2015. Bill was born to William L. Taylor Sr. and Rose (Mercurio) Taylor on Dec. 3, 1926 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Tech High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from St. Joseph's College. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. Bill married Jane (O'Connor) Taylor on Nov. 23, 1963.

Bill was a History Teacher and Coach for Decatur Central High School for several years. After retiring from teaching, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 16 years. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

Bill is survived by three children, Thomas (Rhonda) Taylor of Whiteland, Kerry Cardenas of Beech Grove and Colleen (Derick) Woods of Southport; five grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, O'Neil, Joseph and Cameron; one great grandson, Brady; and two sisters, Betty and Kathryn. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Rose Taylor; his wife of 51 years, Jane Taylor; and four sisters.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Feb. 3, 2015 and 9-10 a.m., Feb. 4, 2015 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next door to Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Rev. Glenn O'Connor will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Feb. 4, 2015 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Bill will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
