Obituary for William Ray "Bill" Gott

William Ray "Bill" Gott, 66, of Brownsburg, passed away Sunday, December 13th, 2020. He was born August 17th, 1954 in Indianapolis to his parents, Billy J. and Mary J. (Stuller) Gott, where he lived for six years. He spent most of his life in Mooresville but was a resident of Brownsburg since 2018.

Bill is survived by his wife of two years, Janet (Cope) Gott of Brownsburg; his father, Billy J. Gott; two sons: Mark (Jaci) Gott of Mooresville and Eric Gott of Mooresville; two stepsons: Tyler and Treavor Lakes; five grandchildren: Brayden, Lauren, Belle, Kayla and Gavin; three step grandchildren: Peyton, Elijah and Evelyn; one brother, Harold Gott of Tennessee; and two sisters: Karen Taft of Mooresville and Mariena Gott of Decatur. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Mary J. (Stuller) Gott.

Bill was a 1972 graduate of Mooresville High School and later on was a 1981 graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, a 1984 graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a 1986 Graduate of Campbellsville College where he studied Secondary Education. He attended 11 years of college earning him his Master's Degree. Bill worked at Allison Transmission for the last eight years as an FMS Operator. Prior to that he was self employed in Real Estate for five years. Bill was a past member of Gasburg Baptist Church and Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and golfing. He was a generous man and loved to help people.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 12 to 6 pm on Thursday, December 17th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Pastor Will Burgess will officiate a celebration of life service at 6pm following visitation at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.

With the new instructions issued by the State allowing gatherings up to 25 people, we welcome friends to pay respects while continuing to follow social distancing guidelines and proper mask wearing.
