Obituary for William T. "Bill" Gillin

William T. "Bill" Gillin, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully Friday, July 30th, 2021. He was born February 2nd, 1929 in Jasonville to his parents, Nick Gillin and Elizabeth (Selba) Gillin. Bill married the late Clara Jo (Baugh) Gillin on March 18th, 1950. He was a resident of Jasonville for 20 years and Indianapolis for most of his life.

Bill is survived by three children: Mike (Michelle) Gillin of Mooresville, Jeanna (Mark) West of Indianapolis, and Ted (Kristi) Gillin of Martinsville; nine grandchildren: Casey Gillin, Carney Gillin, Elizabeth Gillin, Toby West, Quinn Gillin, Morgan Gillin, Lake Gillin, Marc Suding, and Max Suding; two great-grandchildren: Case Gillin and Nathaniel West; one sister in law, Barbara Gillin; and a special friend, Mildred Carson. Bill is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Clara Jo; one great-granddaughter, Halle Claire Gillin; four brothers: Luke, Buck, Bob, and Dick Gillin; and one extra close cousin, Tom Green.

Bill was involved in starting the Stephen Decatur Baseball League. Bill was a truck driver for Plumber's Supply for over 10 years before owning and operating Gillin's Tavern for 30 years. He attended Camby Community Church, and was a member of West Newton Masonic Lodge #707, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, August 3rd at Jones Crossing Banquet Center in Mooresville, where there will be a Masonic Memorial Service held at 7:30 pm. Bill's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021. Bill will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
