Ginny was a true gift from God. She and her husband Mike have brightened the lives of so many for many many years. Their generosity and the love they have showed their friends and neighbors is a true model for us all to live by.
We have known Mike and Ginny for close to five decades and they have been treasured friends for so many.
Our hearts along with many others are breaking however we all have to trust in the Lord and his will. Mike you are loved by so many and we will always be here for you. May God comfort you, Tera, Aaron, Ally, Cooper and Brenda during this most difficult time.
Love you all,
Dixie and Steve Knott

There’s a hole in my heart. A hole so wide and so deep made the second I heard that Ginnie Thacker had taken her last breath.

There’s a hole in my heart. A hole that sank deeper as I realized that forever gone was a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, and a grandmother, leaving behind a family that she passionately loved more than life itself. Gone were the fireside s’mores, the embroidered crafts, and the shutterfly photo books that commemorated every family milestone.

There’s a hole in my heart. A hole that brought a lump to the back of my throat as tears streamed down my face in the realization that the woman I looked up to as ‘the big sister I never had’ would no longer be. Gone were the summer sandal comparisons, the face, foot, and hand spa treatments while watching TV, and the mischievous introduction to Golden Cadillac margaritas thereafter only consumed in Indiana with Ginnie.

Yes, the hole is seemingly one that looks unlikely to close. But, therein lies the type of challenge that Ginnie loved. She may no longer be physically present, but her spirit lives on. We cannot see her, but Ginnie is taking out her portable sewing machine, sizing up that hole, and knowing exactly what to do. She is cutting a piece of fabric woven with strength, courage, compassion, love, and numerous memories made. She is threading her bobbin with unbreakable thread, a hug with every loop made, as she mends away.

She is determined to take our hearts from hole to whole again. That is Ginnie . Forever present. Forever nurturing each and every one of us. Forever with us.

May our memories of Ginnie fill the hole in each of our hearts today, as she would want that.

Grieving with you,
Julie in California
