Obituary for Tennyson T. Turner

Tennyson T. Turner, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2014. Tennyson was born to Alvin and Cassie (Warrens) Turner on May 9, 1931 in Garrett, KY. Tennyson was an Army Veteran. Tennyson married Alice (Matthews) Turner in 1979.

Tennyson was a Brakeman for Conrail Railroad in Indianapolis for 25 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed wood working and bicycling. He was also a member of a country music band. He has lived in Indianapolis for most of his life and his birthplace of Garrett, KY for 20 years.

Tennyson is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice (Matthews) Turner of Indianapolis; a brother, Franklin Turner of MI; two sisters, Rosalee Jacobs of GA and Bernice Scherer of MI and several nieces and nephews. Tennyson is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Cassie (Warrens) Turner.

Family and friends may gather from 10-11 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Billy Gott will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. Tennyson will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
