Obituary for Sarah Tena Wallace

Sarah Tena Wallace, 96, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2015. Sarah was born on December 25, 1918 in Ft. Henry, Tennessee to the late James and Sarah (Hart) Phillips. She married the late Nelson R. Wallace on June 14, 1942.

Sarah lived in Ft. Henry, Tennessee for 70 years and in Indianapolis since 1993 where she was a homemaker. Sarah was a member of New Liberty Church of Christ in Buchanan, TN and attended West Side Church of Christ in Indianapolis for the last 20 years. She also enjoyed crafts, gardening, cooking and most of all spending time with her family.

Sarah is survived by 2 daughters: Rita Maxine (Jack) Shanklin of Camby and Barbara Butler of Indianapolis; grandson, David (Sarah) Shanklin of Austin, TX and twin great grandsons. She is preceded by 4 brothers, 2 sisters and Jack and Tennie Phillips who raised her.

Family and friends may gather 10:30am-12:30pm, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary with the service at 12:30pm. Sarah will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society 690 West Mitchell Ave., Martinsville, IN 46151.
