Obituary for Ruth A. Viles (McCombs)

Ruth A. (McCombs) Viles, 90, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, May 17th, 2020. She was born December 18th, 1929 in Indianapolis to her parents, Guy and Naomi (Burris) McCombs. Ruth married Michael Charles Viles on May 28th, 1949. Although she spent most of her life residing in Indianapolis, she lived in Avon for four years and Monrovia for five years before moving to Mooresville in 1991.

Ruth is survived by her four loving children, her two sons: Timothy C. (Bev) Viles of Mooresville and Thomas C. (Karen) Viles of Indianapolis; two daughters: Debra J. Dotson of Mooresville and Donna J. (Michael) Hemmelgarn of Beech Grove; 17 grandchildren: Timothy Viles Jr. Charles Dotson, Debra Dotson, Joseph Viles, Gerald Dotson, Crystal Hawley, Terri Harris, Michael Viles, Amy Knue, Ashley Todd, Amanda Tichenor, Adam Viles, Thomas Viles Jr. Austin Viles, Brittany Viles, Amber Viles and Stephanie Hemmelgarn; 30 great grandchildren; and two sisters: June Richards of Indianapolis and Anna L. Border of Florida. Ruth is preceded in death by both of her parents; her loving husband, Michael Charles Viles; one son in law, Charles W. Dotson; one son, Michael A. Viles; five brothers: Ralph J. McCombs, Carl D. McCombs, Harry L. McCombs, Jack C. McCombs, and Eugene C. McCombs; and one sister, Alice M. Daniels.

Ruth worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in the Claims Department for five years. Prior to that she worked in Security for the Indianapolis International Airport for 4.5 years. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Mooresville since 1991, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Due to the current unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings, there will be a private visitation with a service officiated by Father Bob Robeson to follow at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. There will be a private graveside service to follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville where Ruth will be laid to rest. A celebration life service will be held at a later date.
