Obituary for Robert Eugene "Bob" Bauer Jr.

Robert Eugene "Bob" Bauer Jr., 69, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, February 21st, 2021. He was born February 26th, 1951 in Indianapolis to his parents, Robert E. and Verlyne M. (Bennett) Bauer Sr, where he spent most of his early childhood. He married the late Karen M. (Marshall) Bauer on May 23rd, 1970. He was a resident of Monrovia for most of his life.

Bob is survived by his three children: Robert E. (Melissa) Bauer III of Monrovia, Susan M. (Bradley) James of Paragon, and Angela (George) Carter of Mooresville; five grandchildren: Melinda, Melody, Melina, Robert IV, and Joseph; eight great grandchildren; and three brothers: Jeffrey, Fred, and Dale. Bob is preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife, Karen M. Bauer; and two brothers: Leo III and Bruce Bauer.

Bob was a 1969 graduate of Monrovia High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served during Vietnam, being discharged in 1974. Bob was a Police Officer for the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, where he was hired in December 1974, retiring February 2003 as a Lieutenant. Bob was Sheriff from 1980-1983. He was a member of the Blue Knights LEMC Riders Club. He enjoyed bowling, collecting police cars and Marine Corps statues. He loved Harley Davidson. Bob was known for his hard exterior and soft interior.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, February 26th and from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, February 27th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Keenan Steinway will officiate a celebration of life service at 11 am on Saturday, February 27th at the funeral home. Bob will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.

With the new instructions issued by the State allowing gatherings up to 50 people, we welcome friends to pay respects while continuing to follow social distancing guidelines and proper mask wearing. You may be asked to wait outside the building as we comply with this mandate.
