Obituary for Ralph Wendell Owens Sr.

Ralph Wendell Owens Sr., 90, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, April 17th, 2022. He was born February 4th, 1932 in Iaeger, West Virginia to his parents, Delbert Owens and Alice (Hager) Howell. He married Glenna (Smith) Owens on December 26th, 1953. He was a resident of Mooresville for most of his life.

Ralph is survived by his three sons: Ralph W. (Laura) Owens Jr. of Franklin, Michael (Vicki) Owens of Mooresville, and Dennis (Carmelia) Owens of Avon; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; six brothers: Everett Owens, Ron Owens, Jimmy Owens, Frank Howell, Ray Howell, and Jack Hager; and four sisters: Faye Cole, Hazel Owens, Barbara Owens, and Ann Lewiski. Ralph is preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Glenna Owens; one grandson, Daniel Owens; and one sister, Betty Wimmer.

Ralph served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked in Maintenance and as a Driver for GM for 28 years before retiring in 1991. Ralph is a member of Local UAW #23. He was a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Ralph was an avid golfer and frequently played at Friendswood Golf Course.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 930 to 11 am on Saturday, April 23rd at Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am following visitation at the church. Ralph will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
