Obituary for Peggy Ann Allen (Laswell)
Peggy Ann Laswell Allen, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022.
Peggy was born on September 26, 1934 in Kings Mountain, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Harrison and Margaret Butt Laswell. She is survived by her children: Gregory Earl Allen (Christi) of Camby, IN; Jeffrey Wayne Allen (Sue) of Avon, IN; Michael Edward Allen (Sandra) of Plainfield, IN; Lisa Ann Allen Main (Eric) of Atlanta, GA; and David Lee Allen (Jacqueline) of Noblesville, IN; twenty-four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters Edith Jean Breithaupt; Betty Zane Bishop; Nancy Cuemile Jackson and Bonita Jo Laswell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Cecil Earl Allen; and brothers Gary Laswell and William Laswell.
Peggy retired from Kroger Company after 35 years of service, and she volunteered many hours at her church, however her passion was her family. She had a quick wit and she and her siblings shared many great stories about growing up in Kings Mountain. She often traveled back to her hometown for family and school reunions. She appreciated the beauty of nature, loved to garden and was an amazing cook. She was a devoted Christian who, following the example of Jesus’s teachings, loved and accepted others unconditionally.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, January 17th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville and from 12 (Noon) to 2 pm on Wednesday, January 19th at Spurlin Funeral Home, 411 W Main St, Stanford, KY 40484. A celebration of life service will be held at 2pm following visitation at the funeral home in Kentucky. Peggy will be laid to rest at Highland Methodist Cemetery in Waynesburg, Kentucky.
